Hair Cuts & “HE MOVES”!!

For about the past…I don't know, 5 or 6 years, my boys have had long, shaggy hair. When Casey had to get his hair cut for his Mission, he waited until the last minute. I think it's become a kind of crutch for them. Well, not anymore. They all got hair CUTS, not trims, this past week and they all look so dang cute. I know they are going to cringe when they read the word "Cute", but I can't help myself J I hope they all like them enough to keep them for a while! Here are the best looking boys ever…of course I think so because I'm their lucky mom.

"He Moves!!!"

Here is my story of the week. This time I am sharing one that happened with my third son Brayden. It was when he was still innocent and not aware that there are just some things you don't mention in public. So as you probably guessed, he was about 4 years old. I LOVE THIS AGE!
They are starting to become little people that think for themselves. The problem with this, is the fact that they also blurt it right out, not realizing that it might not be the most appropriate thing.

Well on this beautiful spring day, I'm wrestling a new baby, in a car seat, Brayden my 4 year old, and Tanner my 5 year old at the wonderful State/Federal building by the State Fair grounds to purchase a birth certificate for Tanner who will be needing it to register for Kindergarten soon. Of course, I have arrived at the time that everyone else in the valley has decided that they also need a birth, death, wedding or what ever else kind of certificates you can get there. There is NO WHERE
to sit, Tanner and Brayden have been in the car for about 60 minutes, so the last thing they want to do is stay still and I'm about ready to kill someone if they don't call my name soon. About this same time a few chairs open across the room and we make a mad rush to get them. Look out…mom with 3 kids coming through like a freight train. I get settled in and catch my breath when I see Brayden looking like he just saw King Kong himself. His eyes look like they are going to pop right out, along with his mouth hanging to the ground.

At this point, any of you moms would know this look and wonder, "OH NO, WHAT DID HE SEE AND WHAT IS HE GOING TO SAY".
I look in the direction of his gaze and see 2 very LARGE men sitting just across from us. Again, if you are a mom, you are now thinking, "PLEASE DON'T SAY IT, PLEASE DON'T SAY IT, PLEASE DON'T SAY IT LOUD ENOUGH FOR OTHERS TO HEAR"
My inner pleading failed….it happened. In his sweet, honest, LOUD voice, he announces to everyone, that these two gentlemen are on the large end, OK, he said FAT!! At this point, I'm just trying to downplay the whole thing, bring him closer to me and whisper in his ear so he try's to whisper back.

I'm thinking not many people heard and just hoping that we can get out of this place before I turn into the wicked witch. (I can feel myself turning greener by the second) PLEASE CALL MY NAME, PLEASE CALL MY NAME, PLEASE CALL MY NAME….nooooooo, instead they call the 2 rather LARGE gentlemen's names instead. As they get up to go get their purchase, Brayden is in complete AWE!!! He looks at me and with the biggest eyes ever, states, "LOOK MOM THEY MOVED!!!" He could not believe his eyes, these men could actually move. On top of that, he was so amazed he had to say it loud enough for the whole lobby to hear. By this time I'm just wanting to get out of Dodge! It took another 10 min. of praying for my name to be called so we could put this bad dream behind us. I finally get our birth certificate and head to the parking lot as I'm sure many were having a good laugh at our expense. DON'T YOU JUST LOVE FOUR YEAR OLDS!!! I know I do!

SPRING BREAKdown

OK, HELP...It is our Spring Break right now and I had BIG plans, Spring Cleaning of course! Ya, I did not inform my wonderful, helpful, non complaining children of this plan but I'm sure they would have been more than willing...(can you see the sarcasm seeping from your computer yet?)

This is the deal, rather problem, it's called "BLOGGING", no not clogging, blogging!! I have sat at my poor computer for the past 48 hours and have yet to pick up a broom, clean out a cupboard, or gut my house of insignificant clutter. My poor kids are just beside themselves with sadness.

On top of sitting at my computer for the past 48 hours straight, I now have ZERO motivation. I have to blame it on something so it must be the weather. I have no idea why I live in a place where is snows SO much and actually like where I live. If it does not snow another day I would be a very happy woman.

I'm now taking a vow to stay away from my computer, no matter what it takes. So today, I'm still not going to clean a dang thing. I'm going to get some vid's from Red box, and sit around and let my kids drive me insane. Sounds like a great Spring Break day!

Family

Here are the latest pictures and happenings of our kids.

Casey just turned 20 in January. He is serving an LDS mission in Honduras and was just made a Branch President in an area with no one coming to church, including the leaders. He is working hard and having an amazing experience.

Tanner just turned 17 last month. He is a Jr. at South Summit High School. He just attended his Jr. Prom with his great group of friends. He works hard at his job as a lifeguard at the Rec. Center near our house. He loves snowboarding in the winter and water skiing and wake boarding in the summer.

Brayden just turned 16 last week! He is now driving and having 2 teenage boys on your insurance is LAME! He is in the 10th grade at South Summit High School. He is "Mr. Personality" and does not need any help in the confidence area. He enjoyed playing football this past year and is currently on the school soccer team. He also works as a lifeguard at our Rec. Center. He snowboards and wake boards with his brothers and will try just about anything.

Logan turned 12 in January. He is a 6th grader at South Summit Middle School. He is now official at the rec. center (can go with out a parent..yeah) and became a Deacon which he loves! He is a really good big brother to Carsen and helps out with him often. He loves to camp and snowboard with his brothers.

Carsen just turned 4 in January. He is the "Blond Angel". He LOVES to play pretend, in fact, that is all he plays. He is always happy (except when he has to leave a friends or grandparents house). He is in pre-school and loves it. He keeps us laughing and keeps our home filled with love! Everyone should experience the joys of motherhood later in life when it becomes fun again :).

Shane and I continue to work hard and do as much together as possible. This past September we went to Lake Powell with some friends over my 40th birthday. It was amazing. We also were able to go to Hawaii with another group of great friends and had a wonderful time. We are very lucky to be able to do these things together. This summer we hope to do a few family outings with other extended family members.

The next post will most likely be Casey's next letter from Honduras!

Blog Virgin

Being the blog virgin that I am…please be patient. I decided to start this after telling some great stories of my amazingly cute 4 year old at our recent family get together. Of course, my sister in-laws that are already bloggers, and MUCH better and FUNNIER than I am, were the ones to suggest this and I’m glad they did. I would never have considered this. These stories need to be recorded, not only the countless ones of my 4 yr old, but others of my family. So here I am. This will be a journal of sorts of the comings and goings of our crazy family. To explain my blogs name "Boy Trapped", I am a mom surrounded by BOYS. We have 5 ranging from 20 to 4. I LOVE being a mom to boys, even though I’m still trying to figure them out!

So, here is my first story I’m going to share that includes my 4 year old. I have decided that he has created his own fantasy world. He lives in pretend land more than reality. For a while his best friend was a golf club that he HAD to take EVERYWHERE, including church! He would talk to it, play with it, and even buckle it in a seat belt. Well, right now he is into “Super”. He’s a “Super” hero, “Super” strong, “Super” big etc. Awhile ago I was in the laundry room working when he jumps down the 2 stairs into the room and announces, “I’m here to save you mom”. Keep in mind, he now has his “Superman, Batman” reversible cape on, Iron man pj’s, along with socks on his hands that are of course magic and snow boots! So I look at him and ask him, “Ok, where are we going”, and he responds with out blinking an eye, “to Walmart silly”. So I take his hand and we run around the house for a few minutes while he kills all the “bad guys”.

Carsen has truly been sent to us to keep our house full of sweetness!
